Description: Greenacres Foundation is a private, non-profit operating foundation established in 1988. Our mission is to encourage conservation and appreciation of nature, agriculture and cultural arts by providing the public (particularly children) many exciting opportunities for hands-on learning. Whether environment, agriculture, water quality, equine or cultural arts education, programs at Greenacres strive to provide only the highest quality educational experiences while meeting the specific needs of our visitors. In order to preserve Greenacres as a place of natural beauty and learning for future generations, all visits are by reservation and group sizes are limited.
Hours of Operation: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday (except for specially scheduled evening and weekend programs)
Facility Open to Public: No – all visits are by reservation only.
Onsite Programs Available: Yes - School-based Agricultural and Environment Education Programs, Scout Programs, Equestrian (horseback) Lessons and Classes, Horticultural & Gardening Programs, Water Quality Programs, and Family Programs. All programs require pre-registration.
Offsite Programs Available: Yes, Water Quality School-based Programs and Field Trips, Youth Organization Programs, Citizen Volunteer Monitoring Program – Saturday Stream Snapshot, and others as requested.
Entrance Fees: None - Facility not open to general public.
Program Fees: School-based programs are free. Camps, On-site Youth Programs, Lessons, and workshop programs have program fees that vary depending on the program.
Handicap Accessible: Most of our programs are handicap accessible. Not all restrooms, trails, and facilities are handicap accessible.
Teacher training Workshops/Programs: Yes. We offer mainly water-related teacher training workshops.
Audiences: Grades K-12 formal and non-formal education groups, teachers, youth organizations, adults, and family programs.
Program Topics: Environment, Agriculture, Equestrian, Gardening, Cultural Arts, and Water Quality Education programs
Free Teacher Resources: No (unless provided for as part of a grant or workshop program).
