Title:Saturday Stream Snapshot (SSS) Citizen Monitoring Program Data Sharing Potluck Brunch
Description: The 5th Annual Saturday Stream Snapshot Data Sharing Brunch January 12th at 10:30 am - 12:30 pm at the Izaak Walton League Lodge at 544 Branch Hill - Loveland Road, Loveland, OH 45140. Greenacres provides beverages, breakfast meats, and tableware. We ask that guests bring a dish to share. We will eat first and then have a presentation about our data starting at 11:15 am. You do not have to RSVP - just come! SSS Volunteers and anyone interested in the data the Saturday Stream Snapshot Citizen Monitoring Program collected on the Lower Little Miami River and its tributaries are welcome to join us.

Title: Earth Day 2010: One Earth - One Chance
Description: Earth Day Celebration activities this year will include: exhibitors with hands-on displays representing environmental groups, government agencies and businesses; Rock-Climbing Wall, Kayak Paddle Safety Pool, ORSANCO's aquarium; baby animals from Farmer Frank's Sunrock Farms; Mother Earth and story telling; an environmental puppet show; Cincinnati Zoo – Cheetahs; a children’s fashion show with creations made with recycled material; entertainment from local bands throughout the day and much, much more.

Title: 2011 East Fork River Sweep
Description: The East Fork of the Little Miami River needs a good spring cleaning! On Saturday, April 25, 2009, beginning at 9 a.m., volunteers of all ages are welcome to walk the riverbanks or use a provided canoe to rid the area of litter and debris, as part of the 18th annual East Fork River Sweep. After spending the morning cleaning up the river, a hot dog lunch will be provided for volunteer’s at all three locations.  Garbage bags and work gloves will be provided; volunteers will also receive a free t-shirt. Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring their own sunscreen and mosquito repellant.

Title: 18th Annual Greater Cincinnati Flower Show Small Wonders Weekend
Description: Create memories with your children that will last a lifetime and enjoy a variety of FREE unique activities that encourage kids to learn more about nature and play in their own back yard. Presented by PNC Bank and hosted by Costco Wholesale Foods, Small Wonders Weekend is a wonderful experience for children to enjoy with their parents during the Cincinnati Flower Show at Symmes Township Park. Saturday is Fairy and Frogs Day and Children are encouraged to come dressed in costume, make a fairy wand and receive a free sample of fairy dust to sprinkle in the garden.

Title: Rain Garden Lesson Guide Workshops
Description: Are you interested in planting a rain garden on your school site? Then this single-day workshop is for you! A New Rain Garden Lesson Guide was developed in 2009 as part of the Clermont Soil & Water Conservation District “Partnering to Protect Water Resources: A Rain Garden Demonstration and Education Project”  and contains six project-based science and math lessons that take you and your students through the process of designing, installing, maintaining, and monitoring a Rain Garden on or near your school campus. The Lessons are divided into three grade bands (3-5, 6-8,and 9-12). All Lessons have been correlated with Ohio Academic Standards and use an inquiry-based approach to learning.

Title: 2010 Ohio River Sweep
Description: River Sweep is an annual cleanup event held each year on the third Saturday in June along the Ohio River and its tributaries the entire length of the river, from its origin in Pittsburgh, PA to its end in Cairo, IL, including 1,962 miles of shoreline and many tributaries.  The River Sweep provides an excellent opportunity for many civic groups, school organizations, and recreational clubs to actively participate in a community service event. Any individual, young or old, or any group is welcome. Children under 18 need a parent signature on the liability waiver before participating.

Title: 2010 Paddlefest
Description: Mark your calendars for the 9th Annual Paddlefest at Coney Island. The Kid's Outdoor Adventure Expo will take place from 9 am - 4 pm on Thursday, June 24, the River Music Arts & Outdoor Festival at Paddlefest will be held from 4 - 11 pm on Friday June 25, and Paddlefest Float Trips and Races take palce from 7 am - 12 Noon on June 26th followed by a Gold Star Chili Finish Line Festival following the paddling at Yeatmans Cove. Description: Greenacres Water Quality Project and Hamilton County Solid Waste District will be co-sponsoring a Project WET K-12 Teacher Training Workshop at the Greenacres Foundation Education Building.  Teachers need to provide their own lunch.  Drinks and snacks will be provided.  Teachers will receive a copy of the Project Wet curricula and other education resources.  Discounted graduate credit through the University of Cincinnati Center for Economic Development is available.

Title: The Ultimate Educator Expo!
Description: The EXPO, presented by Fidelity Investments hosted by Greater Cincinnati Environmental Educators (GCEE) and the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, is FREE for teachers of all grades and subjects. The Expo features 20-minute break-out sessions in which teachers will gain practical information. Over thirty environmental organizations will be there to share their educational programs available to teachers and students. Refreshments and door prizes will also be available. Teachers may register at www.cetconnect.org/ultimateeducatorexpo to be part of this Expo. All teachers will be asked to park in the education lot and overflow will be available in the main lot. Day of registration will be available at the Harold C. Schott Education Center.

Description:The 5th annual Great Outdoor Weekend will be held September 26 and 27, 2009.  Get Out during this fall weekend and experience a free sampling of the best nature activities in the Cincinnati Region.  The Great Outdoor Weekend was designed by a group of environmental education and outdoor recreation organizations to provide a diverse sampling of the best nature activities in Greater Cincinnati. Because of the generous financial and in-kind support of our sponsors and participating organizations, all programs are FREE and open to the public.

Description: The Cincinnati Chapter of Izaak Walton League will be hosting Buckeye United Flyfishers, Greenacres Foundation Water Quality Project, Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Scenic Rivers Program, ONDR Division of Watercraft, and ODNR Division of Wildlife for a fun filled day of water-related outdoor activities. Programs include Flyfishing (fly tying and casting), river fishing, canoeing, archery, kayaking, water safety demos, touring a Watercraft Patrol Boat, water chemistry testing, river critter monitoring, fish printing, and an Electofishing Demonstration,. Come join the fun!

Title: Citizen Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index Training (CQHEI)
Description: Participants will learn how to assess stream habitat and learn how to complete Ohio EPA’s Citizen Habitat Evaluation Index (CQHEI). This survey looks at whether or not a stream can support fish.  Ohio EPA finds this information very valuable and it is a quick and easy way for you to monitor a stream without getting wet!
